What Italian jewellery means in a gold showroom

When someone in North Mumbai asks for Italian jewellery, they usually mean imported gold that sits light. A chain you forget you have on. A pendant set for work. Small earrings that do not pull. It is still gold. Hallmark still applies. It is not costume, and it is not temple work.

The old site listed Italian or imported gold next to everyday gold, Maharashtrian work and South Indian haar. That is still how the trays are kept. Italian jewellery lives on the same gold counters as the work chains and the bangles. We do not have a separate imported-only room. Phoolji, Gopalji or Vijay will open the light tray and tell you the grams.

People use the word Italian for a look as much as a country of origin. Fine links. A machine-made shine. A clasp that sits flat. A length that goes under a collar. If a piece was made here to that language, we still call it Italian-looking, and we still stamp it. We will not pretend a local copy is an import if it is not. Ask, and they will say which is which.

Lightweight Italian gold chains for everyday wear

Most of the Italian sitting is chains. A work chain that does not catch on a bag. An Italian-link piece that sits flatter than a traditional rope. A slightly longer chain for a pendant. A shorter one that stays inside a shirt. Lengths change week to week. We do not list lengths or weights on this site, because the box is not the same on Tuesday as it was last Saturday.

Men buy these as often as women. A first gold chain. A replacement when the old one has thinned. A gift that should not feel like wedding gold. After chains, the next ask is a pendant set. Some with a small diamond. Some with a ruby or a sapphire. Some plain gold. The point is daily wear, not a function haar. Office jewellery is a real sitting here. Someone who already has the wedding set and wants something they will actually wear on a Tuesday. We try to do what is right for the customer at that point, rather than sell them a bridal weight they will leave in the box.

Italian jewellery vs traditional Indian gold

Traditional gold here is weight you can feel. A laxmi har. A carved kada. A black-bead mangalsutra. Antique work. Temple motifs. That gold is for weddings, for one serious piece, for families who want the piece to look like the jewellery already in the house. Italian jewellery is the opposite job. Same metal. Different sitting.

We keep both because the same family buys both. The mother who sat for a haar in 1998 now wants a light chain for work. The bride who took a temple set wants a pendant she can wear under a kurta in July. We will not talk you from one into the other. If you came for Italian, you get the light tray. If the light tray is wrong for the function, we will say so.

Antique and temple work live on antique jewellery. Everyday and bridal hallmark gold live on gold jewellery. Italian is the light imported slice of that gold counter. You do not need three visits. You need the right tray opened first.

How imported gold is hallmarked and checked

We only sell hallmark gold. That is normal now, not a boast. 916 is the default, stamped, the same metal whether it is a work chain or a wedding haar or an Italian link. Papers travel with the piece. They are not issued by this website.

Then the piece still has to pass QC. Finish. Clasp. Stamp against the ticket. A chain that kinks. A pendant bail that will saw through a fine link in six months. If a piece fails, it does not go in the tray. We are in the middle: personalised service, and also the checks that very large stores do, which family showrooms often skip. After you take it home, a light chain needs the same care as any gold chain. Wipe it. Do not share a box with a heavier haar. Bring it back if it thins or the lock sits wrong. Jewellery care is the short list we give at the counter.

Making an Italian-looking piece from a photo

If you see a design on Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest, we can make it. A cropped story is enough. Say what must stay — the link, the length, the pendant shape — and what can move. They confirm the karat and a date. You see the piece at the counter. If you don’t like it, give it back and we will remake it. Because we care about the customer being satisfied.

This is a large part of the work now. People save a reel, walk in, and want that chain in their length. We will not invent a weight or a rate on this page. The person at the counter will tell you the grams for the piece in front of you, or for the piece they are about to make. The process is on custom jewellery and in the longer note how a remake runs.

Which showroom keeps Italian jewellery

Start at Bhayandar if that is the counter your family already uses. Phoolji and Yogeshji. Talao Road, since 1992. The light tray sits with the rest of the gold.

Mira Road is the everyday gold counter on Queens Park, behind Deepak Hospital. Gopalji and Ramji. Good if you already live on Mira Bhayandar Road and want to try a chain without crossing to Bhayandar.

Kundali Jewels, next to Thunga, is the diamond room. They keep pendant sets and diamond-on-Italian-chain pieces. For a full Italian-line gold sitting they will send you to Narenkumar on the same road.

Kandivali is last, and the smallest of the four. Vijay and Mahendra at Viceroy Court, Thakur Village. They keep the light gold tray. People also come here from Borivali, Malad and Dahisar. Message before you travel if you want a specific length pulled.
