What hallmark and QC actually mean at a family showroom

We only sell hallmark gold, certified diamonds, and branded gemstone rings. That is normal now. The work is what happens after the stamp.

The floor: stamp, certificate, papers

Hallmark gold. Certified diamonds. Branded gemstone rings. We will not sell uncertified diamonds. We will not sell gold without a hallmark. Papers travel with the piece. They are not issued by this website. If you want to see the paper, come to the showroom. Ask. Phoolji, Gopalji, Himmatji or Vijay will turn the piece over.

916 is the default on gold. The same metal whether it is a work chain, an Italian link, a mangalsutra, or a wedding haar. Italian jewellery is still hallmarked. Antique jewellery is new gold that looks older, still hallmarked. We do not pretend a look changes the metal. The shorter page is hallmark and QC.

We do not publish gold rates, carat rates or making charges here. The ticket is for the piece in front of you. Exchange is discussed at the counter, in general terms. Not as a website percentage.

What we still check by hand

We are in the middle: not very small, not very large. Personalised service, and also the SOPs and QC that very large stores do, which family showrooms often skip. All jewellery passes strict QC. Weight against the ticket. The hallmark mark itself. Prongs and claws on diamond and gemstone settings. Locks on mangalsutra and haar. Polish that will not die after one function. If a piece fails, it does not go in the tray.

A chain that kinks. A pendant bail that will saw through a fine Italian link in six months. A kada that will not close. A baju band that was photographed as an armlet and made like a wrist piece. A nath screw that will not sit. Those are hand checks. They are why a family showroom still has to look, even when the stamp is already there.

Most staff have stayed over 10 years, so the person who sold you a chain is often the person who checks the remake. That is why the remake promise is possible. If you see a design on Instagram, we can make it. If you don’t like it, give it back and we will remake it. The remake is still checked. Same stamp. Same QC.

Diamonds and gemstones are not a different religion

Kundali is the diamond-first room, next to Thunga. Only very finely cut diamonds, so they shine. Certificate first. Then setting and symmetry. A stone that rocks does not leave. Gemstone rings — pukhraj, neelam, panna, manik — come with papers. The seven-day stone trial is that room. Sonia P. mentioned it on Google. If it is not the stone you meant, you bring it back.

After you take it home

A stamp does not keep a claw tight forever. Wear loosens settings. Chains thin. Locks sit wrong. Bring a piece back before a wedding morning, not the morning itself. Soft cloth. No chlorine. Separate pouches. The short list is on jewellery care.

We think long term. We are customer first. People have been trusting these stores for generations. Since 1992, about 34 years. Three generations of certain families have been buying gold from us. A piece that fails QC this week is a family that does not come back in ten years. That is why the tray is slower than a festival board.

Which counter to ask

Any of the four. Bhayandar — Phoolji and Yogeshji. Mira Road — Gopalji and Ramji. Kundali — Himmatji and Ankitji, the diamond and gemstone room. Kandivali — Vijay and Mahendra, last, the smallest showroom. Ask to see the stamp. We do not sell online. There is no certificate download on this site.

Italian jewellery is still this check. A light imported chain gets the same stamp and the same clasp look as a work chain. Bridal gold gets the lock on the haar and the seats on the tikka. A baju band gets measured on the arm, then checked again when it comes back from making. Custom from a photograph is not a shortcut around QC. The remake is checked like the first make. We do not sell online. There is no cart and no downloadable certificate. Walk in. Ask. That is the whole method. Families who have been coming since 1992 already know it. New families should hear it once, plainly, before they sit. Ask to see the stamp. Ask to see the paper. That is enough for a first visit.
